Frequency of and factors associated with vascular complications after pediatric liver transplantation.
CONCLUSION: the choice of treatment depends on the timing of diagnosis; however, in this study, surgical revision or correction produced worse outcomes than percutaneous angioplasty. The reduction of risk factors and early detection of vascular complications are key elements to a successful transplantation. PMID: 24370174 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Imaging of Vascular Complications and Their Consequences Following Transplantation in the Abdomen Multisystem Radiology
This article includes a basic description of the standard surgical techniques performed in the abdomen, with emphasis on the relevant vascular anastomotic reconstructions used. Posttransplantation complications can be broadly classified as vascular or nonvascular in origin. Many of these complications can be accurately depicted and characterized at imaging and dealt with definitively by using interventional radiology techniques, which can be graft- and life-saving and can obviate further complex surgical intervention. The article discusses imaging appearances of vascular complications and their consequences after transplan...

Abstract No. 651 Postoperative liver transplant ultrasounds and vascular complications
Vascular complications such as hepatic artery stenosis/thrombosis can occur following liver transplantation. Doppler ultrasound is the primary method of screening for vascular complications in the early postoperative period. We investigated patients with abnormal ultrasound findings who received subsequent vascular intervention.

Life-saving vascular access after combined liver and kidney transplantation: A challenging access to the right atrium.
We report the case of a boy treated for loss of hemodialysis access after a combined liver-kidney transplantation and transient renal dysfunction. An interventional dilatation of calcific superior vena cava allowed to insert a stable central venous line for dialysis until full graft recovery. Careful management of central lines allows to spare the main vessels and reduces the need for unusual accesses. PMID: 30608014 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Abstract No. 587 Endovascular management of vascular complications after liver transplant
To characterize the incidence of vascular complications in patients receiving orthotopic liver transplants (OLT) at a single regional liver transplant center between 2005 and 2017, and review the frequency of endovascular techniques as primary treatment.

O impacto da hepatite C em Portugal
Conclusions In Portugal, the annual costs associated to hepatitis C are about 71 million euros of which approximately 83% (60 million euros) being due to complications of disease and liver transplant, often required in the treatment of these complications. The results of this study support that, from a society's perspective, VHC infection is a disease with a considerable economic burden, which therefore justifies the conduction of a national screening and prevention program directed to hepatitis C, which would reinforce the relevance of its treatment.

Refractory ascites and graft dysfunction in early renal transplantation.
Discussion: Incomplete septal cirrhosis is an uncommon cause of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. Its definition is not well known, morphological and pathophysiological. We have not found published cases of post-RT ascites secondary to this pathology, described as possibly associated with drugs, immune alterations, infections, hypercoagulability and genetic predisposition. Vascular reconstruction in hepatic surgery.
CONCLUSION: Based on the experience of transplantation surgery concepts for vascular reconstruction can be safely applied to liver surgery. These concepts contribute to increasing the resectability of liver tumors. Due to the often impaired prognosis of vascular tumor infiltration, the use of these concepts should be individually assessed by weighing the prognosis against the morbidity.
